Home to Koh Samui's mummified monk. Luang Pho Daeng died in meditation in 1973 and his body, on display in a glass case, has barely decayed — sunglasses added later to cover the eyes. It sounds macabre and is oddly fascinating, treated with real reverence by locals. The rest is an ordinary working wat on the ring road between Lamai and Na Muang. Free to visit; dress modestly and be respectful with photos. A quick stop, easy to fold into a south-coast loop.
